Synaptic plasticity is believed to be the main principle underlying learning and memory formation, having a central impact on neural information processing. In my PhD project I am studying short and long-term synaptic plasticity in excitatory and inhibitory neocortical neural networks under the supervision of Dr. Mark van Rossum (UoE) and Dr. Per Jesper Sjöström (UCL).
